In Between Festivals
WORKSHOP WITH MARIA F. SCARONI
The Italian dancer Maria F. Scaroni is moving through the complex network of learning and making dances since 1996. Scaroni’s works focus on the process of collaboration, play with durational experiences and are featured by a crossbreeding between performance, choreography and installation. She created works with Jess Curtis, Vania Rovisco (AADK), while more recently is exploring non-productivity and in/out doors ‘dérives’ with Frank Willens. Maria is currently creating and touring works by Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Tino Sehgal and Jeremy Wade. She teaches in Berlin’s University HZT and is actively involved in other independent training programs (P.O.R.C.H. and Smash) where she is developing methodologies focusing on the body as material.
The workshop is about improvisation and the conscious body control combined with methods of eastern chi energy. The artist analyses the limits of the body. Trans states, tension, boredom and contemplation are specific elements of their tactics.
